Why Are Workplace Environment Measurements Necessary?

Occupational health and safety legislation has made workplace environment measurements mandatory to protect the health of employees. Employers are obliged to identify the risks that their employees may be exposed to and ensure a suitable working environment. These risks may involve the absence or excess of harmful substances present in the environment. Workplace environment measurements, carried out to detect these risks, help the employer fulfill their duty to protect the health of employees.

Article 10 of the Occupational Health and Safety Law holds employers responsible for conducting environment measurements to assess the risks employees may be exposed to in the workplace. Additionally, the Regulation on Laboratories Conducting Occupational Hygiene Measurement, Testing, and Analysis published on August 20, 2013, also mandates the conduct of these measurements in workplaces.

What Are Workplace Environment Measurements?

Workplace environment measurements, conducted under the occupational health and safety law to protect employees' health and eliminate hazards, ensure the identification of harmful substances present in the workplace. These measurements help to eliminate risks by determining the excess or absence of substances in the environment. These measurements are particularly carried out in cases where invisible risks are identified as a result of risk assessments.

Kuzey Marmara OSGB is an institution authorized by the Turkish Accreditation Agency and recognized as an occupational hygiene measurement laboratory by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security.

Workplace Environment and Personal Exposure Measurements

Workplace environment measurements are divided into two categories: workplace environment measurements, which evaluate the general hygiene conditions of the working environment, and personal exposure measurements, which determine the risks a specific employee is exposed to during working hours.

Kuzey Marmara OSGB Workplace Environment Measurements

The accredited occupational hygiene laboratory of Kuzey Marmara OSGB was authorized in 2014 as one of Turkey's first occupational hygiene laboratories. Located in Istanbul Ataşehir, the laboratory conducts various environmental measurements across Turkey. Its experienced team of engineers carries out precise measurements of lighting, noise, dust, and gases in workplaces, continuously improving service quality with advancing technology.
