Certified First Aider Requirement

In accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Law No. 6331, it is mandatory to have certified first aid personnel in workplaces regardless of the hazard class and the number of employees. This includes the requirement for one or more employees to attend certified first aid training courses and pass the certified first aid exam organized by the Ministry of Health.

Article 16 of the First Aid Regulation explains how many certified first aiders are required in each workplace. According to this:

• In workplaces classified as hazardous and highly hazardous, one certified first aider is required for every 10 employees.
• In workplaces classified as less hazardous, one certified first aider is required for every 20 employees.

Why Is Certified First Aid Training Necessary?

In emergency situations such as fires, earthquakes, or poisonings in the workplace, it is crucial to have someone who can provide first aid to the injured until medical teams arrive. Therefore, one or more employees in the workplace should take this training and be able to provide emergency intervention until medical personnel arrive.
